his 4AD debut is out this week, “Mysterious Phonk: The Chronicles of Spaceghostpurrp” & it’s a pretty solid package, equally split between older mixtape favorites remixed/remastered/revamped & slick new narcotic jams like the excellent “Black God” & instant classic “No Evidence”.

Pros: new material is top notch & evolved just enough to sound great but still grimey. older stuff sounds louder & crisper, but no mortal kombat samples.

Cons: wish the older stuff included some NASA tape material, especially “Spaceship”. no mortal kombat samples.

Bonus: dig that witchhouse lettering (SPVCXXGHXZTPVRRP) meets gangster in space cover art.

another contender for my favorite hip-hop this year, but it’s been a pretty decent spread so far.
